Post 9/11 the world as we knew it changed forever. With the ever-present threat of terrorist attacks, the world has become filled with distrust and suspicion. With the increased emphasis on security issues today, it has become commonplace in almost all sectors, for companies and employers to take extra caution by running employment background checks into the credentials and records of potential employees. Background checks are not limited to just new applicants; even current employees may undergo background screening to help employers in their decision making such as the promotion of employees. While companies cannot be blamed for being extra vigilant in the face of such threat, employees are generally not comfortable with the idea of having some stranger run a personal background check. It can feel very intrusive when employers dig out episodes from the employees’ past, which should have no bearing or relevance to their qualification and suitability for the job at hand. If you are a potential candidate faced with a similar situation, you have every right to question the necessity of such personal background checks, and to have a say about what information can be covered in the background report and what cannot. Of course, if you have not broken any law or have any blemish on your record, you have nothing to fear from these routine background screenings.Below are further reasons why there is a marked rise in the use of background checks:* Following the terrorist acts of September 11, 2001, Federal Law and in some cases the State Laws have made background checks mandatory for certain kinds of employment in order to enforce tougher and more thorough screenings of new job applicants and even current employees.* On the heels of major corporate scandals such as Enron, even top management and CEOS of corporations are no longer exempt from scrutiny and also subject to screening and checks into their background.* In professions dealing with children, the rise in incidents such as child kidnapping and child abuse have necessitated criminal background checks of applicants in order to protect the innocent children from such predators. Some laws also facilitate this screening, such as the Federal Law of National Child Protection Act, which authorizes state officials to access the FBI’s National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database to perform background checks on job applicants. The same is true of professions dealing with elderly or disabled persons.* In certain sectors, the use of falsified documents to get a job is on the rise. According to estimates, some 30% to 40% of the applicants’ resumes are forged in some way or another. In such cases, background checks can help weed out the unqualified from the qualified candidates.

Long gone are the days when IT systems consist of poor-performing PCs, Notebooks & Servers with an IT support company that is unreliable and has slow response times. Well, that is how it should be!With the age of secure, remote access IT systems & remote IT support, what is now commercially available to all businesses is a fast IT system with powerful servers and computers at reasonable prices. Not only does any business have access to this, but in terms of IT support, you can now have the power to work remotely from any location, utilising Microsoft?s Terminal Services solution.Terminal Services is Microsoft?s solution to the more expensive Citrix, but has similar benefits for your business IT System. For multi-site companies and global businesses, Terminal Services solutions provide a secure remote access solution for your company IT network. Staff and managers alike have the ability to login to their software applications and data anywhere in the world in a matter of seconds. Combine this and thin client technology and what you have is a virus free, secure system that will transport your business IT & network infrastructure into the future of business computing. One step further and what you can have is a complete remotely-hosted IT system with hosted Exchange, which provides a Microsoft Outlook remote access solution. Housed in a secure data centre, your entire company?s data and software applications are remotely hosted to provide unparalleled redundancy, resilience and disaster recovery solution.More and more businesses are switching to remote access solutions due to the disaster recovery and security advantages of such systems and there is no other reliable, secure and cost-effective way to ensure your business is completely covered in the event of an IT system failure. If your company suffered a disaster, fire or even a burglary, no other IT solution could get your business back up and running instantly at such a low cost per head.Imagine the benefits of having an IT system completely managed in a secure, remote environment, providing a complete disaster recovery solution that can leave you to concentrate on your core business activities. IT support costs are kept to a minimum as all servers are remotely managed by your IT system provider. The most common concerns of many businesses are viruses, hackers and data theft. These can all be resolved in a remote access environment as all systems, support and software are at enterprise and corporate standards, meaning your data and communications are in safe hands with multiple-level security protocols in place. This ensures your privacy and protects your data.Your business could purchase cheaper hardware and all standard Microsoft Office software programs come complete with remote IT systems, as part of the monthly cost per head. All future hardware and software upgrades are included in the monthly fees, which means your IT costs are kept at constant, scaleable levels and you have access to the latest technology and software updates.IT support contracts are not necessary as you can have adhoc support only when you need it for your PCs, notebooks and servers.Copyright Networklondon.co.uk

What can you do to track down your progress on profit or expenses? When progress in numbers is checked, solid evidence is always needed because it?s the only basis of how much a restaurant is earning or losing each day. Is it doing well by average or is it doing better compared to how much you have expected it to earn from day 1? You need to always check on this on a regular basis because it could make or break your business. You also need to know the volume trend of your restaurant and a report of the managerial efficiency for both the customers and the restaurant during hours of operation. This way, you?ll have a clearer picture of what else or how much more your benefits are going to be if you had another way to run your business. Also, you will need to check the classification of each of your restaurant?s division. Check on the revenue of the productivity of each producing department. In this case, you will need to take a look at the revenue on your bottomless iced tea if it does bring money to the cash register or if it doesn?t make any difference at all.Take control of the part where scheduled expenses are needed to be done. Also, if you have it laid out well, it?s going to give you a clearer idea on which part you?re losing and gaining most. You will also have an easy access if you need to intervene on one aspect of your business because you have the figures to help you out.The big question ?where did my money go?? will be simply answered if you have all the supporting facts in front of you. It will be less stressing to have something to grab and look on compared to just sit there and think about what went wrong.

Whether it is a multi billion dollar corporation or a newly set-up small business accounting software is more than a mere convenience.
